Latina Voices

A growing audience, with differences in language, origin and life stage.

The original Latina Voices page made two points together: the audience was commercially significant, and it was not a single type of buyer. Its period figures cited about 19.3 million Latina females in the United States in 2003, compared with 17.3 million in 2000, and placed Hispanic spending power at $653 billion. Those figures describe the old page’s evidence, not the present market.

One label, many histories

The page noted Mexican, South and Central American, and Caribbean origins. It proposed segmentation by acculturation, language preference and economic situation rather than assuming one common response. It also described the relative youth of the population as relevant to brands seeking long relationships with customers.

Culture in real encounters

Its discussion of cultural events and targeted conferences treated connection as something built in community spaces, not only through advertising. Education and employment were another thread: the page presented Latina women as a growing talent force.

For research, the useful starting point is to ask when language, heritage, generation or community changes a purchase experience. The Leading Voices directory puts this view beside seven other groups without treating any one account as a current demographic report.
